Week 8 10.01 - 10.05

Focus: We are about to get into our second Persuasive writing unit that will last two weeks. Like the last unit, it will involve a rough draft, peer editing, revision, a final draft, and a presentation. Differences are:
  • specific errors to be identified & corrected through editing
  • a presentation that includes at least two pieces of evidence rather than opinion
  • drafts must included one piece of evidence for each supporting claim.
Monday: Let's discuss our next project. CT9 Notes
  • WM: Where is your family from? Are you the first generation, or the second? What has your family historically done (farming? teaching? writing? musicians?)?
  • CN: Common diction errors

  • HW: Write a one paragraph biography of your own life beginning from where you were born to where you are today. 
Tuesday: CT10 Notes
  • WM
  • Notes: Imagery, Characterize, Symbols
  • In each group, re-read "The Grandfather"
  • Complete questions p.52 TC #4, 5, 7, 9 (this is classwork)
  • HW: Listen and watch "Oranges" and "Gary Soto interview"
