Apologies, and Some Updates

First off, I'm very sorry for having had to leave after 3rd period on Friday. My father, who is 70, disappeared - and we couldn't find him for hours. I gave him a cell phone years ago, but he likes to turn it off except when he calls other people - so we were getting very worried. After several more hours, I had to go looking for him.

It's a strange thing, to see your parents getting old. It's hard to accept that in many ways they have fallen back upon the habits and responses of children - but at the same time, my sister and I have to keep in mind that they are our parents, adults, and deserving of respect as well as responsibility.

Ok, on to other subjects!
  1. Congratulations to Ms. Gonzales for being the first to leave a comment through the "Contact Me" link at the left! Please let me know who you are (student) so you can get +50 EC.
  2. Congratulations to Ashley N. for being the first to create an Edmodo profile! +50 EC
  3. We're about to begin our first literature unit. This is a multi-classroom unit (four 9th teachers are going to be working together to teach this unit). You can preview the short story here:
  4. As the week progresses, I'll be uploading links to articles, assignments, and notes in the "Homework Assignments" section under this week's post.
  5. Syllabus slips and surveys were due last Friday. If you still have them, bring them in.
  6. Books will be assigned this week.
  7. You should have all your supplies, or at least ordered all your supplies, by Wednesday of this week. On Monday I will set up an Amazon order page where students will be listed next to what they have ordered. Once again, you do NOT have to buy them through our classroom order. You can get your pens, paper, envelope or folder, and backpack ANYWHERE. however, it is important that you have these supplies and if there is a problem doing so please let me know and I will work with you. Students please thank you parents for buying you your supplies as they are working hard to get you what you need to succeed.
