Linux Installation Instructions

The following links provide step-by-step instructions for software refurbishing of computer units using the Linux Ubuntu Operating System. Check minimum requirements and ideal installation notes to determine the distro (version) of Linux you should use. Finally, note that this guide page covers only software refurbishing. For hardware refurbishing, please see other link on the Teacher's Corner page.

  2. Distro Selection & Installation Instructions
  3. F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)
  4. For Further Assistance
Note: Software Refurbishing via Linux can either destructive (you lose all data on your hard drive) or non-destructive (you can choose at startup whether to boot from your old OS or your new OS). It is strongly recommended that you copy all important files off of your computer first. Further, only a destructive installation will guarantee a clean installation.
